In this fast-paced life, Corona has bombarded your mind with the reality of being healthy over money. Yes, Economic Crisis is going on right now, but will it matter if there are no more people to save? This is sad but true that a global pandemic has given us a reality check about our health.
Now, you will have certain questions in mind that, how to stay fit during this period as well as stay in a good state of mind simultaneously. World Health Organization has given some guidelines about eating quality food. The main & underlying part is ‘Eat homemade food rather than packaged food’. You need to make sure of the following points when you are planning to eat food:-
- Avoid Outside Packaged Food:- As compared to homemade food, the percentage of salt & sugar is more in the outside food. This is unhealthy for your body. Try to eat food that is homemade or search for better options where food is served by local cooks.
- Eat Together, Stay Healthy Together:- This period is the best one for family members to eat together & to discuss the things together. From the parent’s point of view, make sure you are setting a good example in front of your children. This will help your children to be more physically & mentally strong.
Corona has made us live at home for a longer period. Not just people in India, but more than half of the world population is sitting at home to fight this pandemic. Staying at home, social distancing is the only option to tackle the deadliest corona right now. But due to this, we are becoming lazy & procrastination is increasing more. Eventually, there are certain changes automatically being made in the human body. Now there is a great need to change our health routine to avoid some unwanted consequences.
Let us point out some ‘try & avoid’ food items in this lockdown:-
Try:- Fibrous food items, Vegetables, Brown Rice, Oats, Brown Bread. By having these items in your meal & dinner, you will enhance your immunity.
Avoid:- White Flour, Pasta made by White Flour, Milk Products, White Rice, Bread, Food items in which sugar level is high, Refined food items.

Make sure that you are drinking enough water throughout the day. Avoid cold drinks at any cost (at least in the lockdown period).
A quick way to drink palatable & more tasty water:- In your regular drinking water, add lemon, Mint, Cucumber, Lavender, Rosemary & berries to have tasty & enjoyable drink.
Not particularly in this lockdown, but for the rest of your life try to have a minimum salt percentage in your lunch & dinner. Try to eat salt not more than 5 grams in a day. To achieve this goal, avoid fast food, wafers, pickles. Along with the salt, sugar level should also be at a low level.
Research says, only 5% of total energy in our body should come from sugar. This means that you can have 3 or 4 tablespoons of sugar throughout the day. Note that, this number does not apply to those who are diabetics.
If you are craving to eat sweet, eat fruits of any kind. Honey also should be kept at a low level. Along with salt & sugar, keep a low balance of fatty substances. While cooking, use sunflower oil or olive oil. According to WHO, avoid red meat, milk products, palm oil, coconut oil in this lockdown period.
Be Courageous & Avoid ‘Liquor’:-
Yeah, this may sound weird, but you should completely avoid liquor. There were rumors that liquor is the possible solution for Corona. But it is not. The reason is that, if you get affected by Corona, then it will be complicated while treating you.
